RANT: THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY MORE.

    C'mon, man. It's funny!
MY, OH MY! LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!
I write this on November 6, the day after the U.S. elections and Donald Trump has been re-elected president. VP Kamela gave the usual blahblahblah capitulation speech earlier this evening. The Republicans have won a small majority in the Senate and as of today (Wednesday) there are a number of seats in the House of Representatives still in play. If the Republicans get 218 seats or more, they will retain control of the House. (The Senate and House held Congressional elections this year as well.) If so, the Republicans will have control of both Houses of Congress and the Trump administration will be able to bring more legislative initiatives forward and passed into law. For many, this might mean we will be going to hell in a hand basket. At least for those who don’t yet know we’ve almost there, already.

AS A CANADIAN, I’m more interested in Trump’s foreign policy initiatives, but as far as the war in Palestine goes, I don’t think there will be much change. Trump has talked about wanting the war to be finished before he takes office on January 20. But he does a lot of talking, so who knows whether the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza (and soon the West Bank and similar war crimes in Lebanon) will continue. Trump, Kennedy and the next VP, JD Vance, are staunch Zionists.  So, we'll see, but I won't get my hopes up.
The Ukraine conflict might be something he’ll try and wind down, given his rhetoric around foreign entanglements and costly NATO commitments. But, one thing that gives me pause is the phthiscal appearance of Mike Pompeo at Donald Trump's victory party. The former head of the CIA and Secretary of State during Trump's first term in office is a well-known war hawk and neo-con who was a slime-ball in his previous positions and is touted as a possible appointee to Trump's cabinet. That is not a good sign. And even though Pompeo’s lost a ton of weight, he was a fat prick before and he’s a skinny prick now. If he is any sign of the kind of people Trump will again surround himself—despite the additions of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.*, Tulsie Gabbard, and Elon Musk—then we will probably see a continuation of “Deep State” business as usual. It’s early days yet.

ðŸ‘‰Check out Tik Tok and X to see vids of crybaby liberals filming themselves having royal meltdowns over the election of the Bad Orange Man (Donald Trump). They are as hilarious and adorable as cute kitten vids. Boo-hoo.
So it goes….
ON THE SAME DAY as the U.S. elections, in Britain, November 5 is celebrated as Guy Fawkes Day (also known as “Bonfire Night”). In 1605, Guy and a group of Catholic dissidents took it upon themselves to blow up the Parliament buildings during the opening ceremonies with a full house in attendance including King James I and his entourage. In one fell swoop Fawkes and friends hoped to wipe out the Protestant monarchy and its parliamentarians, and install James' nine-year-old daughter as queen and ushering in a Catholic monarch’s rule in England. But things didn’t go to plan and he and the gang were captured, tried and executed.
👉FUN FACT: Fawkes was to be disemboweled and hung (in that order) at his public hanging, but he was able to break free and jump from the scaffold. The fall broke his neck, killing him.  He did manage to retain his innards, however.

MANY PEOPLE TODAY are both afraid and fascinated with the “what ifs” of radical change and revolution found in the historical record, and how they just might be on the agenda for us. I think we will see in the coming years a generational shift in Western politics, with old guard politicians being tossed into the dustbin of history and new politicians, with new ideas and priorities taking their place. Whatever happens it's guaranteed to be a bumpy ride, so buckle up!

Cheers, Jake.______________________________________

* RFK Jr.'s over-the-top support of Israel's actions in Gaza, the West Bank and now Lebanon is hard to fathom and such a disappointment. He seems to have drunk the Kool-Aid poured by the mass-murderer, Netanyahu. Otherwise, Kennedy has many good ideas around health-care reform, reining in the pharmaceutical sector, holding culpable those who promoted dangerous "interventions" during the pandemic years, and releasing the JFK files, etc.

"Remember, remember the Fifth of November...."
