TIP OF THE HAT : OLIVER SCHROER: ENIGMATIC FIDDLER

I THOUGHT I WOULD POST a brief note on Canadian fiddler, Oliver Schroer whose body of work, and his career as a musician and teacher are testaments to a life well-lived. A wonderful CD of his is entitled Camino, which was recorded during a 2004 pilgrimage he and his wife and a friend made along the 1000km Camino de Santiago ("The Way of Saint James") pilgrim trail between Paris, France and Santiago de Compostela, Galicia in northwestern Spain. For those not familiar with his music, I urge you to give him a listen. Another favourite of mine is his stirring version of the English ballad, "She Moved Through the Fair".
Sadly, he died in 2008 of leukemia.

Cheers, Jake
